Project Overview
On August 3, 2026, Kairun Pump successfully completed the delivery of 8 units of 37kW WQ series submersible sewage pumps to a municipal wastewater treatment plant in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The equipment has been installed on schedule and is currently in the trial operation phase, with all performance indicators meeting or exceeding the design specifications.
This delivery marks another milestone for Kairun Pump in the Southeast Asian municipal wastewater sector, reinforcing the company’s position as a reliable supplier of heavy-duty pumping solutions for demanding wastewater applications.
Project Background
Our partner in Kuala Lumpur has been operating a production facility that has seen substantial growth in recent years. Driven by expanding market demand and a strategic push to increase output, the factory embarked on a large-scale capacity expansion program, adding new production lines and increasing overall manufacturing volume.
As production capacity scaled up, so did the factory’s wastewater generation. The existing wastewater treatment and pumping system, originally designed for a lower throughput, was no longer sufficient to handle the increased volume and load. The plant faced two pressing challenges:
1. Insufficient Pumping Capacity
The original pumping station was operating at or near full capacity on a daily basis, leaving no margin for production fluctuations or future growth. Any further increase in output risked overwhelming the system, potentially leading to untreated wastewater overflow and regulatory non-compliance.
2. Need for Reliable Continuous Operation
Industrial wastewater from the production process contains higher concentrations of solids, fibrous materials, and corrosive constituents compared to typical municipal sewage. The partner required heavy-duty pumping equipment capable of stable, continuous operation under these harsh conditions, with minimal downtime and low maintenance requirements.
Against this backdrop, the partner urgently sought a pumping solution that could accommodate the expanded wastewater volume while ensuring reliable, uninterrupted transport to the treatment process. After a comprehensive technical evaluation, Kairun’s engineering team recommended the WQ series submersible sewage pump as the optimal solution.
The WQ series was selected for several compelling reasons:
It has a proven track record across a wide range of wastewater applications, including industrial effluent, municipal sewage, and stormwater pumping.
Its robust mechanical structure is engineered for reliability in environments with heavy water transfer and corrosion resistant.
It offers significant life-cycle cost advantages, combining competitive upfront pricing with low energy consumption and extended maintenance intervals.
Technical Solution
This shipment comprised eight units of the WQ series submersible sewage pumps, each rated at 37kW, configured for continuous duty in industrial wastewater transportation.
The parameters for the WQ pump are as follows:
- 150WQ200-30-37
- Flow rate: 200m³
- Head: 28m
- Outlet diameter: 150mm
- Material: SS316
- Power: 37kW
- Speed: 1450r/min
- Voltage/Frequency: 415V 50HZ
Technical Features
The Kairun WQ series incorporates several design features that make it particularly well-suited for heavy-duty industrial wastewater service:
Cutting System Design
The pump is equipped with an integrated cutting mechanism that effectively shreds fibrous materials, rags, and solid particles before they reach the impeller. This design significantly reduces the risk of clogging — one of the most common causes of pump downtime in wastewater applications — and ensures uninterrupted operation even when handling highly contaminated industrial effluent.
Cast Iron Pump Body with Epoxy Coating
The pump casing is constructed from high-grade cast iron, providing exceptional structural strength and durability. The interior and exterior surfaces are treated with a high-performance epoxy coating that creates a robust barrier against corrosive elements commonly found in industrial wastewater, including acids, alkalis, and chemical residues. This coating extends the pump’s service life and reduces long-term maintenance costs.
Double-End Mechanical Seal
A double-end mechanical seal arrangement provides enhanced leak-proof capability compared to single-seal designs. By creating two independent sealing barriers, the pump can maintain watertight integrity even if one seal is compromised, effectively protecting the motor from water ingress and extending maintenance cycles.
Built-in Temperature and Humidity Sensors
The motor is fitted with embedded temperature sensors that continuously monitor winding temperature and trigger protective shutdown in the event of overheating. Additionally, humidity sensors in the seal chamber detect any leakage at an early stage. These features support unattended, safe operation and allow the plant’s control system to respond proactively to potential faults before they cause equipment damage.
Submersible Design
The fully submersible configuration eliminates the need for priming and reduces the footprint required for installation. Unlike dry-pit installations, submersible pumps operate below the liquid surface, which not only saves valuable plant space but also provides natural cooling for the motor, further enhancing reliability during continuous operation.
Installation and Commissioning
The eight pumps were installed in the plant’s wastewater collection tank, where they are responsible for transporting raw wastewater from the inlet chamber to the primary treatment process section.
The installation was carried out by the customer’s technical team in accordance with Kairun’s detailed installation and operation manual, with remote technical support provided by Kairun’s engineering department throughout the process.

Project Execution and Delivery
The entire project — from order confirmation and production to inspection, packaging, and shipping — was completed within 50 days, demonstrating Kairun’s efficient production planning and reliable supply chain management.
Upon receiving the shipment, the customer immediately conducted a thorough incoming inspection and performance verification in accordance with the provided instructions and test procedures.
The results confirmed that the performance of each pump perfectly matched the technical data provided by Kairun, with no discrepancies observed in flow, head, power consumption, or insulation resistance.
Project Significance
The entire delivery process, from production to shipping, took 45 days. Upon receiving the goods, the customer immediately inspected and tested them according to our provided instructions. The performance of each pump perfectly matched the data we provided.
This collaboration not only maintained Kairun Pumps’ excellent reputation in the Southeast Asian market but also further validated the applicability of the WQ series in large-scale, continuous wastewater treatment applications. The company provided full-process technical support for the project, including selection assistance, installation guidance, and after-sales service solutions.
